‘3,600 communities lack health facilities in Niger’

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has disclosed that there are 3,600 communities in Niger State which lack basic health facilities and social amenities.

Tagging those communities hard-to-reach, UNICEF has said that although the international donor partner seeks to provide health services to all the communities, it has only been able to reach out to 850 communities in 17 local government areas of the state.

FG Signs Seventy Million Euro EU Support For Health

The Federal Government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the European Union (EU) on 70 million Euro support to Revamp Nigeria’s health sector.

According to the Minister of Health, Professor Isaac Adewole, the fund will be used to strengthen the nation’s already weak health system and eradicate polio.

The Head of the European Union Delegation to Nigeria, Michel Arrion emphasised the need to concentrate on reducing the nation’s burden of maternal child mortality.

UN Campaign to Save Nigerian Children from Measles, Polio

At a time when reports showed that many children were malnourished, susceptible to different diseases and have died in their numbers in the North-east ravaged by Boko Haram which resulted to spent healthcare services, the United Nations (UN) on January 13, 2017, took up a massive campaign to protect as many as 4.7 million children from measles in the area.

Emeka Offor urges Rotarians not to relent in fight against polio

The Rotary International Polio Ambassador to Nigeria, Sir EmekaOffor has urged Rotarians in the country not to relent in the fight against Poliovirus.
Sir Offor who spoke at an event organised by Rotary District 9140 to celebrate the World Polio Day in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, charged the rotarians to “stay vigilant in the fight against polio,” insisting that the disease must be defeated.
