Khama Rogo, a World Bank Officer has observed that Africa has the largest burden of diseases in the world, and the lowest in accessible healthcare delivery to its citizenry.
 
Rogo who is the Lead Health Specialist in Africa, World Bank Group, made this observation when he led officials of World Bank and Pharm Access on a courtesy call on the Kwara State Governor,  Abdulfatah Ahmed at Government House, Ilorin, the state capital.

Nutrition experts have identified exclusive breastfeeding as one of the tools to achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals – 3, SDGs, aimed at ensuring healthy lives and promote wellbeing for consumers of all ages and ending preventable deaths of newborns and children under 5 years of age by 2030″.

 

Nigeria requires $12m yearly for family planning, lifesaving drugs

The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) says Nigeria requires between $12 million and $16 million yearly to procure family planning commodities and lifesaving drugs.

 

 

Of this figure, the Ministry of Health has pledged to budget $3 million for next year.Executive Director of the UNFPA, Dr. Babatunde Osotimehin stated this in a statement at the end of his visit to Nigeria.
