When you hear of #TakwaBay what comes to mind is beautiful ocean, beach, boat rides but the reality is different when we got to the community. According to Baale of #TakwaBayover 250,000 people lives in this community, men, women and children. But #Takwabaycommunity does not have a nepa/phcn Poll not to talk of having electricity since they started leaving there thousands of years ago. This simply means all the benefits of electricity has never been enjoyed in this community. Women deliver their babies in darkness.

NGO Calls For Establishment Of Delivery Rooms In IDPs Camp In FCT

The Yusra Peace Care Foundation, an NGO, has called for the construction of delivery rooms in Durumi IDPs camp in FCT to reduce the risk of maternal and child mortality.
 
Dr Fahad Muhammed, who is in charge of the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) clinic, made the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Friday.

Dame Okowa, wife of the Delta State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, has warned mothers to be the ambassadors of health for their wards by taking vaccination of their children and wards seriously or be held responsible if preventable diseases affect them.
 
Dame Okowa stated this in Asaba when she flagged off the second round of Maternal Newborn Child Health Week (MNCHW), reiterating that the state government had started implementing free medical care for the elderly and disabled as well as improved the free under five medical services.

A member of Enugu State House of Assembly, Dr Emeka Ogbuobor, has criticised the 2007 free Maternal and Child Healthcare Programme (FMCH), describing it as ambiguous, flawed with chaos and confusion.
 

Ogbuobor, representing Isi-Uzo constituency and Chairman, House Committee on Health, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Enugu on Tuesday that the programme was no longer working.
 

Ogbuobor said that the programme needed to be revived and streamlined because its  impact on the poor was enormous.

Millions of poor Nigerians are benefitting from a radical health systems strengthening programme funded by UK Aid which has established high standards for healthcare in five states and is set to be replicated throughout the rest of Nigeria in the years ahead. The programme clearly demonstrates the effectiveness of overseas development assistance, according to Abt Associates, the lead agency in the consortium responsible for implementing the project.
 

UNICEF: Kaduna has 1.6 million malnourished children – highest in Nigeria

Over 1.6 million malnourished children are in Kaduna state, according to the United Nation Children’s Fund (UNICEF).

 

 

Florence Oni, UNICEF’s nutrition specialist, disclosed this while presenting the state’s intervention score card at a two-day mid-year review meeting in Kaduna.

 

 

The figure shows the state has the highest number of malnourished children in Nigeria.
